The Future CIO 100 2023, in partnership with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, in its second year of running, is a new and exciting opportunity to empower emerging leaders in the global technology community. We are opening nominations for our communities of leaders, followers and wider audiences to nominate your team members displaying exceptional leadership, skills, critical and/or creative thinking and innovation, for a chance for them to be recognised for their efforts and for their clear potential as our future CIOs.
In the meantime, we will shortly be announcing this list’s official Judges. These will be members of the technology community who are already seen as thought leaders and therefore will be well placed to collectively make the ultimate decision of the final 100. HotTopics, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and our Judges are committed to building a diverse and inclusive Future CIO 100 list, and will be proud to present a gender equal list, as we have done in our past awards.
Talent Worth Celebrating
It’s vital we make time to celebrate talent and leadership within the global technology community, across the whole business, not just at the executive level. The function is evolving rapidly and emerging in times of unpredictability are individuals that can lead and collaborate across the business. They are not yet executives, but they are proving the adage that a business’ best product is its talent; the individuals they nurture today will be its leaders tomorrow. In other words, future CIOs are weathering today’s headwinds in order to be the resilient leaders for tomorrow’s.
Their CIOs and CTOs have emerged as figureheads for company profiles, partners to the business, and, increasingly, the next natural candidate for the CEO, as we have reported in their own awards list. It is not hyperbole therefore to suggest that these Future CIOs may also be candidates for the top roles across the industry, too, later in their careers.
Sound leadership is always worth celebrating. HotTopics, HPE and our Judges can’t wait to review your nominations and help shine a light on individuals going above and beyond their titles to address and advocate for change in an already competitive industry.

Future CIO 100 2023 Criteria
- Currently a Head of, VP, SVP, or similar, leading a team within the technology function with a national, international or global team.
- Demonstrated proactive leadership, combining business acumen with innovative strategies in creative or unique ways.
- Emerging thought leader and/or public speaker, sharing the value of innovative capabilities to a wider audience.
- Championing innovation to further or build positive impact solutions, sustainable practices and a more inclusive working environment.
The deadline for receiving nominations is midnight, on the 31 December.
